Directory Monitor

Magazine Contributor

Trip reports, dive-site stories, gear pieces and salty-truth columns for the scuba magazine and Mermaid Universe.

You get: one free quarter for every article published in the magazine, so three articles in one issue means three quarters. You also get your byline, a free copy of the issue shipped to you, and the Contributor badge. Articles on your own member page don't count toward free quarters.

Underwater Photographer

Send at least one photo every three months.

You get: one free quarter for every photo published in the magazine, stacking just like articles, plus a photo credit. Photos on your own member page don't count toward free quarters.

Dive Spot Scout

Write profiles of dive sites you know well. Every profile goes up on the site, but only complete profiles, with every required detail filled in, earn credit.

You get: one free quarter for each complete dive-site profile, so four complete sites earn a full free year. The Scout badge comes with your first complete profile.

 

A complete dive-site profile includes:

1. Site name, country and region, and the nearest town or GPS point

2. Shore or boat entry, and how to get there

3. Depth range, typical visibility, and water temperature by season

4. Best months to dive it

5. Currents, and the certification level the site suits

6. Marine life highlights

7. Hazards to know about

8. Facilities nearby: air or nitrox fills, parking, toilets, and where divers stay

9. At least two of the scout's own photos

10. When the scout last dived the site (within the past two years)

Ambassadors

Bring your own people into the directory. There's one ambassador badge for each community:

• Scuba Ambassador: bring in six new scuba divers

• Freediver Ambassador: bring in six new freedivers

• Professional Ambassador: bring in six new dive professionals or boat crew

• Pod Mother: bring in six new mermaids

You get: a free year for every six new members who join and name you as the person who invited them, plus your ambassador badge.
